Becoming a Member of the Indigenous Council

Yes, hours from being on the Council may count toward the CPD hours, as long as you have gained new learning in one or both of these areas and can provide the required reflection on this learning within your CPD report.

The Council meets roughly once a month for 1-2 hours; additional commitment/hours may be needed throughout the month to complete projects and other tasks. Additional time commitments on top of the monthly virtual meetings would include time to read and respond to emails, as well as attend 1-2 in person meetings a year which can vary between half-day and full day in person meetings.

If you identify as Indigenous and are interested in joining the Council, you can send an email to Indigenousengagement@bccsw.ca to note your interest in becoming a Council member; include a statement of why you would like to join and a current resume. The Council will set up a time to meet virtually to learn more about you and then may subsequently provide a formal invitation to join the Council.
