Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program – 2025–2026 Cycle
We are pleased to inform you that the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portal is now open for the 2025–2026 cycle. The portal has been updated to reflect recent bylaw amendments that strengthen the College’s commitment to ethical, inclusive, and culturally safe professional practice.
All registrants in the full, clinical, or provisional class are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of CPD activities between November 1, 2025, and October 31, 2026. You may now begin entering your CPD goals and activities into the updated portal.
CPD Requirements
Under Section 64 of the amended Quality Assurance Program bylaws, the 40 required hours must include:
- 31 hours of general continuing professional development activities
- 3 hours related to ethical conduct and ethical decision-making
- 3 hours related to cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-discriminatory practice
- 3 hours related to Indigenous-specific cultural learning and anti-Indigenous racism and discrimination
These updates are designed to ensure CPD activities support the evolving nature of social work and promote ethical, culturally responsive practice.
CPD Category Hour Limits
As reinstated in the 2023 CPD cycle, a maximum of 15 hours can be claimed per activity category:
- Self-directed learning
- Work-based learning
- Professional activities
- Formal/educational activities
- Other activities
Even if more than 15 hours are completed in any one category, only 15 hours will be credited toward the 40-hour requirement. This encourages registrants to diversify their learning methods.
You may now access the CPD portal through your College registrant account. If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your continued dedication to professional growth and excellence.
If, after reading the material and looking at the frequently asked questions, you have questions, please send an email to info@bccsw.ca.
