The Social Workers Act (section 39) requires employers to report to the BCCSW if they fire, suspend or discipline an employee for misconduct involving physical or significant emotional harm or sexual abuse or exploitation of a client.
Employers are not limited by this provision but may make a complaint about any concern that a social worker may have breached the Code of Ethics or Standards of Practice.
Employers are welcome to call the College to consult with professional staff about accepted standards of practice.
